Running Retreats UK — Guided Trail Running Retreats
A running retreat is the rare week where running is the point of the day rather than the thing squeezed around it.
Our retreats run in the Lake District, Snowdonia, the Scottish Highlands, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, Cornwall and the Cotswolds, plus alpine and Mediterranean weeks in Europe. You run daily on routes picked for your ability and that week's conditions, and you spend the rest of the time eating properly, sleeping properly and talking to people who also think a 900 m climb is a good use of a morning.
These are small groups — usually four to eight runners — with pace grouping on the hill, so a first-time trail runner and someone building towards an ultra can share the same retreat without either having a bad week.

Who a running retreat suits
- Runners who want structure and coaching without a rigid training camp
- Solo travellers — most of our runners book alone and it works
- Couples and friend groups where one runs harder than the other
- Anyone coming back from a lay-off who wants guided, sensible mileage
- Clubs, teams and companies booking a private retreat for their own group
A typical retreat week
- Arrival — a short leg-loosener run, a briefing and a look at the week's forecast
- Build days — progressive routes so your legs adapt before the biggest day
- Big day — the objective of the retreat, placed on the best weather window
- Recovery day — something shorter and more scenic, then home
Nothing is forced. Routes are adjusted daily for conditions, group pace and how everyone is actually feeling.

Frequently asked questions
How fit do I need to be for a running retreat?
If you can run for 60–90 minutes on a path or road, you'll enjoy a retreat with us. Trail pace is slower than road pace and everyone walks the steep climbs — including the guides.
Is accommodation included in the retreat?
It can be. Some people want the whole thing bundled, others prefer to book their own place nearby. Tell us which when you enquire and we'll quote accordingly.
How much does a running retreat cost?
It depends on the region, the length, the group size and whether accommodation and transfers are included, so we quote per retreat rather than publish a single figure. Send us your dates and we'll come back with a price.
Can I come on my own?
Most people do. Small groups mean solo runners are absorbed into the group on day one, and pace grouping means you're never running alone unless you want to be.
What if I'm slower than everyone else?
You won't be running to someone else's pace. We split the group on the hill and regroup at agreed points, which is why mixed-ability retreats work.
